Mamma Mia is the ultimate feel-good night out, the smash-hit musical built around the songs of ABBA. Set on a sun-soaked Greek island, it is a joyous, singalong show that sends every audience home grinning. A reliable crowd-pleaser for groups and families.
About the show
The story follows bride-to-be Sophie as she invites three of her mother's old flames to her wedding, hoping to discover her father, all told through ABBA classics like Dancing Queen and Super Trouper. It is light, funny and impossible not to enjoy.
Where to see it and tickets
Mamma Mia London plays at the Novello Theatre in the heart of the West End. Tickets are sold through the official theatre and authorised agents; book ahead for weekends and school holidays. For the cheapest seats, see our guide to cheap theatre tickets, and make an evening of it with things to do in London at night.
Good to know
Arrive 30 minutes early, dress is smart-casual (anything goes in the West End), and most musicals run around two and a half hours with an interval. Pair it with dinner from our restaurants guides and a pre-theatre table in Covent Garden or Soho.
