Summer suits London. The evenings stretch out past nine, the parks fill with people who are in no hurry, and the river feels like the centre of everything. Here is a little of what the team has on its list while the weather holds.
The parks, properly used
A London summer is mostly spent outdoors. The royal parks are the obvious joy, and they are free, which is why they lead our free things to do roundup. Pack a book, find a quiet spot, and let an afternoon disappear.
Markets in full swing
Warm weather is market weather. Our guide to the best markets in London is the one we reach for, whether it is flowers in the morning or food stalls at lunch. Pair it with a wander through one of the city's neighbourhoods and you have a whole day sorted.
The big sights, minus the crush
Summer is busy, so timing matters. Early mornings and late afternoons are kindest at the headline attractions, and many of the places worth visiting are far calmer once the midday crowds thin. If you would rather stay cool, a great museum is always a good fallback.
We will keep adding to this as the season unfolds. For now, the city is at its most generous, and that is reason enough to be out in it.
