The ArcelorMittal Orbit is the twisting red steel tower that rises over the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, a legacy of the 2012 Games and the tallest sculpture in Britain. Designed by Anish Kapoor, it is a striking piece of public art you can climb inside, with sweeping views over east London and the Olympic Park. The 178-metre slide wrapped around it turns the descent into an adventure.
What to see and do
Take the lift to the viewing platforms for the panorama, then ride the Cecil Balmond and Carsten Holler slide back down, a 40-second, 12-twist plunge. Abseiling experiences run on selected dates.
Visiting tips
Tickets are timed; the slide is an add-on with a minimum height. Stratford station and Westfield Stratford are minutes away, making a full day in Stratford.
