Frameless is London's biggest permanent immersive art experience, a 30,000 square foot space near Marble Arch where some of the most famous paintings in the world are reimagined as enveloping, moving, floor-to-ceiling projections. Opened in 2022, it turns the work of artists from Monet and Klimt to Dali, Kandinsky and Van Gogh into a walk-through spectacle of light, scale and sound.
Why visit Frameless
It is art without the velvet rope. Across four themed galleries the paintings are animated, magnified and set to a bespoke score, so the experience is closer to stepping inside a canvas than studying one on a wall. It works especially well for families, photographers and anyone who finds a traditional gallery hard going.
What to see
The four galleries each take a different approach, from the dreamlike to the disorienting, drawing on more than 40 artworks. Mirrors, reflections and surround sound make the spaces feel limitless. A cafe and bar round out a visit that typically lasts around 90 minutes.
